Machining

In the machining hall the core engine components are machined; crankshafts, cylinder blocks and cylinder heads.

The material is received as raw castings and goes through a series of drilling, grinding and milling operations. Production processes are highly automated and self-correcting machinery ensures that each component is machined to an exact specification.  Highly skilled and experienced associates ensure the high quality of the products and productivity of the operations.

Underneath the machining hall is a vast technical basement housing systems to contain, refrigerate, pump and filter coolant fluid required for the machining processes. Debris and swarf from the machining process is also dealt with here, separated into cast iron and aluminium then spun-dried to remove foreign bodies and excess fluid so that it can be recycled. The operations in the technical basement contribute to achieve the requirements of technical cleanliness which is necessary for the machining of the components.
